Special Journey

As parents ourselves, we understand that choosing the right day-care provider is one of the most important decisions you’ll make for your child’s early development. We know how challenging it can be to leave your little one for the first time and the mixed emotions that come with returning to work. That’s why with our 30 years experience, we know how to support you and your family as well as help settle your baby or toddler into their new play environment.

Babies
Here I am!
Babies begin learning from the very minute that they focus their eyes and find their fingers! That’s why we have special Under 2’s rooms that inspire a real sense of belonging, happiness, and emotional wellbeing. These rooms are aesthetically pleasing, featuring calm, neutral and natural earthy tones, twinkly lights, and airy, spacious layouts. These elements create a strong soothing environment that helps babies feel secure and relaxed, whilst stimulating their senses, and nurturing their curiosity and confidence. Babies are naturally curious and our nurseries encourage this exploration through play, helping babies to build attachments and develop strong, secure relationships.
Our highly qualified and experienced staff work to routines that are led by babies individual needs, maintaining a ratio of one adult to three babies to ensure a perfect balance between interaction with playmates and individual care, with lots of cuddles! Babies in our care feel loved, nurtured and valued by our staff who delight in seeing them progress with smiles, babbles and giggles. Staff respond positively to babies’ cues and needs, providing gentle and reassuring care.
Upon joining the nursery you will be introduced to a personal nursery carer who will take primary responsibility for your baby. This ‘key Person’ system enables your baby to form a close bond with one member of staff, providing a dedicated person who knows your child and their routine. And of course, if that routine involves breastfeeding then you are welcome to call in to feed your baby whenever is best for you both.

Tweenies
I am exploring!
Our Tweenie children are happy and loving, typically aged between 18 months and two years old. With a staff ratio of one adult to every three children, Tweenies still require help with their care routines but are beginning to assert their need for independence. At this age, children are becoming more self aware and have a stronger sense of who they are and what they can do. Key workers continue to play an important part of the routine, encouraging all children to practice social skills, develop their confidence and join in play with others. Of course, we also help them to find their voices and recognise their schemas!
We know that Tweenies are at a particularly busy stage of development, absorbing all that is new in their world. All play materials, toys, equipment and play experiences are carefully selected and frequently changed to keep even the busiest of minds and hands occupied. Exploration and adventure are the names of the game with sand, water, creative, sensory and messy play, as well as mark making used to discover movement and texture. Construction and small world toys, dressing up clothes and accessories are all on hand for ‘role play’ – Tweenies love playing Role-play and natural inquisitiveness is encouraged!
Of course, no day is complete without plenty of singing and stories and our merry band of happy noisy children who all love joining in! We provide opportunities to relax, rest and reconnect throughout our nursery day, ensuring there is no better place to be. Our caring and energetic Tweenie staff members are partners in the children’s play, delighting in and celebrating children’s curiosity and exploration.

Toddlers
Look at me now!
Messy play is not for everyone! Some children love trains, some love tractors, some enjoy trips to the park, and others delight in role play and trying on hats and clothes… Getting to know your child, as the unique, creative, funny and bright individuals they are, is all part of the fun for us. We love celebrating their unique personalities. We do our utmost to stimulate little minds with imaginative and challenging play opportunities that build a strong foundation for a lifetime of learning. With one qualified staff member for every four children, toddlers are kept busy with ‘hands on’ and meaningful play experiences that encourages them to use all of their senses.
Our Toddler team shows genuine care and emotional support, fostering positive feelings of connection between home and nursery. Children who are encouraged to think and play imaginatively are more likely to enjoy and succeed in school, so we actively work with toddlers to develop their skills and confidence.
Activities are planned in the moment, following children’s own interests and fascinations, balanced with active play. Every day our toddler areas are filled with singing songs, sharing stories, free-playing, building and exploring enjoyable experiences. Our key workers focus on inspiring natural curiosity through play while encouraging children to make simple choices and take responsibility for tidying up after themselves (not always successful, but we do try!) But, quiet time is also an important part of the daily routine – after all, a little relaxation is no bad thing! Wellbeing initiatives such as mindfulness, baby massage, nature walks and yoga are some of the experiences we provide. At this stage children are absorbed in their discovery as their perseverance and resilience develop. Play becomes more meaningful, and staff always share in the children’s joy and excitement.

Preschool
Watch me go!
With dedicated preschool areas for 3 year and 4 year olds, we plan all learning experiences using the Government’s Early Years Curriculum for Wales, which is used across all schools in Wales for children from 0-8 year olds. We aspire to ensure that every child is equipped for ‘big school’ by placing great emphasis on ‘learning by doing’. This next big adventure is a huge milestone, and we are proud and privileged to be a part of their journey.
With a ratio of one adult to every eight children, we focus on developing the building blocks that ensure a firm foundation for education and the skills they need to succeed in the world around them. In our Preschool we foster a sense of belonging, enhance communication skills, spark curiosity, promote physical growth, and nurture emotional wellbeing.
We also foster self-esteem by bringing a positive approach to new experiences with plenty of fun and enjoyment, learning through play and child-led learning. Every child is unique, with their own strengths, challenges and learning styles. We create a nurturing play environment that enables each child to flourish and grow. Preschool staff play a vital role in supporting children’s development, which is both rewarding and worthwhile for all.
The garden is used as an outdoor classroom, serving as an extension of our indoor learning environment. We see the indoors and outdoors as being the same environment for children to learn. A busy day with plenty of fresh air and new challenges really does get children off to the best start in life. Getting ready for big school has never been so much fun!

School-age
Here I come!
We understand how challenging it can be to juggle working hours with the school day, which is why we provide care for school-age children up to twelve years of age.
If your child attends a local school for the morning, our ‘school run’ service will collect them from the classroom and bring them back to nursery. Here they can enjoy a nutritious lunch and join in the fun with their friends until you are ready to collect them. This service not only ensures your child’s safety but also provides valuable social opportunities helping them build friendships and develop social skills in a familiar and supportive environment.
For children who attend school in the afternoon, we provide lunch at the nursery before helping them change into their school uniform. We then take them to school, allowing you to continue your day at work without interruption. Surely this brings peace of mind knowing your child is well cared for and prepared for school.
We also run a holiday play-scheme and a holiday club for children aged between 4 and 12 years olds, so older siblings can join in the fun too! During the school holidays we provide a relaxed yet structured plan, so that children can choose what days they attend. We always ensure older children are engaged and entertained and in addition offer trips and outings in the local community. We cater for Inset days and emergency school closures too!
